Indians followed by Chinese outnumber Everest Climbers
Kathmandu: In the spring season 2019, Indian mountaineers followed by Chinese have outnumbered the mountaineers ascending the Everest. 61 climbers out of 78 Indians who took permission to summit Everest were successful.
Similarly, 54 climbers out of 60 Chinese succeeded to reach atop Everest according to the department of tourism. 267 climbers from 47 countries successfully scaled the Everest.
As many as 644 mountaineers summited Everest in this season, of which 577 were males and 67 females and Sherpas. Along with 367 Everest summiteers, 364 Sherpa guides also summited Everest. 13 Nepali climbers out of 14 also summited Everest.
Of the peak permission given to 44 expedition teams, 37 were foreigner and 7 were Nepali teams. According to Director of Department of Tourism Meera Acharya, Prime Minister’s cabinet meeting held on June 7, 2019, has issued directions to form a five-member committee under the coordination of Ministry for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation to look into the issues raised during this spring season.
