Tamang had attempted Lhotse (8516 m) from South col along with a female mountaineer from Qatar. He also said that actually his plan was to summit Everest on 18 May, but had to retreat due to bad weather conditions.

Engaged in peak climbing since 2011, Tamang had earlier reached Everest peak in 2016, which was repeated in 2018 and 2019, while working as an Everest guide for one foreigner each time.

Tamang remembers that it was a very windy day, while climbing Lhotse. However, without worrying about adverse weather and fatigue, he successfully helped his climber to summit Lhoste.

He has undertaken high mountain rescue and peak climbing trainings organized by Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA). He returned to Kathmandu after climbing two peaks in 50 days.
