Gurung Appointed Coordinator for Gandaki Province ‘Visit Year’
Kathmandu: Gandaki provincial government has appointed conservationist Juddha Bahadur Gurung as Coordinator of ‘Main Organizing Committee for Visit Year.’
Mr. Gurung has also been assigned with the portfolio of coordinator for provincial government’s coordinator for Internal Visit Year 2019, Visit Nepal 2020, and Tourism Infrastructure Year 2021 and Comprehensive visit year 2022.
‘Mr. Gurung is appointed as a coordinator of Gandaki tourism year by provincial government’ said Narayan Acharya, a spokesperson of Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment.
Gandaki provincial government has taken tourism as the main basis of prosperity and development in the province.
The main organizing committee for ‘Visit Year’ has a committee comprising of 151 members including Chief Secretary, Secretaries, district coordination committees, local bodies and tourism-related organizations, journalists and experts.
Speaking to highlights tourism, the newly appointed coordinator Gurung said that since 30 to 40% of tourists arrive in Pokhara, all efforts and attention will be focused on the management of tourists’ need.
Mr. Gurung has completed his master degree in zoology science from Nepal and in Natural Resource Management from Norway.
Mr. Gurung had started his career as a conservation officer for the Annapurna Conservation Area Project and from 2008 to 20013 he was appointed as a member secretary of The National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC) by the government.
