Nine Tourist Police Check Posts Proposed Outside the Valley

Kathmandu: Nepal police has proposed for additional nine check posts outside Kathmandu valley. The main purpose of additional tourist check posts is required to boost up the government goal to bring in 2 million tourists and give them a sense of security, while they will be in Nepal during Visit Year 2020, according to Bhrikuti Mandap Unit Chief police inspector Amrit Bahadur Basnet.
Basnet also said that these check posts will be instated at Kanchanpur, Banke, Bardiya, Bhedetar of Dhankuta and Fickal of Ilam, Dharan, Rara in Mugu and Dolpa districts.
Basnet disclosed that of the total of 26 posts across the country, eleven check posts are operative at Swayambhu, Pashupati, Boudha, Bhaktapur, Thamel, Patan, Basantapur, Nagarkot, airport, and Chandragiri in Kathmandu.
This year only over 454 tourists registered 600 theft-related complaints at Bhrikuti Mandap Unit check posts, Basnet added.
