Kathmandu: Nepal government’s Department of Tourism said that all 414 climbing peaks including Mt. Everest are opened and permitted for climbing. There is no such plan to close them.
“Our attention has been seriously drawn towards false rumors covered in a few media about closure of peaks,” said the press statement released Monday by Mira Acharya, the Director of the Department of Tourism.
The statement also added that not even informal discussions were done in the department related to the closure of peaks including Mt. Everest and 414 peaks.
The statement appealed all concerned stakeholders not to run after such false rumors and added that the special committee has been formed to look into issues related to mountaineering to make safe and well-managed tourism destinations.
