Since this wildlife is situated within Koshi Tappu Wildlife Resort, the reserve is a homeland to various wild animals including wild buffaloes and endangered gharial crocodile, Gangetic dolphins, 20 species of ducks, 441 species of birds, storks, herons, 2 species of ibis and egrets.

The wildlife reserve offers you the opportunity to see around 159 wild buffaloes adorned with bigger and fearful horns, other animals like Hog deer, wild boar, spotted deer, blue bull, rock python, 30 species of shorebirds, 114 water birds, endangered swamp partridge, 80 species of fish, Bengal florican. If the day is very clear, the striking views of Himalayan peaks such as that of Makalu (8463m), the world’s fifth highest mountain can be seen from this wild reserve.

How far?
Around 500 km away from Kathmandu and situated in the terai area in the eastern part of Nepal, the wildlife reserve is spread over 175 sq. km of wet and marshy land.
It lies in the districts of Sunsari, Saptari and Udaipur raised at an altitude of 75 to 81 m. The luxury of this wildlife camp will give you a new refreshing niche to watch birds and wild buffaloes in their natural state of being.

How to get there?
This wildlife reserve can be reached via air. For this, take a flight from Kathmandu to Biratnagar and then meet your agents to start a trip to Koshi Tappu.
If you don’t have an agent then take a local bus from Biratnagar and stop at Jamuha. If you wish to travel by road then it will take around 8-9 hours’ drive by vehicle or a car from Kathmandu to reach the destination.
The different alternative way is rafting down along the white water waves of Sun Koshi River would be a more exciting and pleasant trip to exciting and spectacular scenes of natural beauty in the surrounding.
