TAAN postpones Gorkha marathon for second time

Kathmandu: Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAAN) has postponed its 4rth Gorkha marathon for the second time this year which it has been organizing ever since the disastrous earthquake-hit Nepal in 2015.
According to TAAN Chairman Nabraj Dahal, the date for the fourth 42 km Gorkha marathon set from Barpark to Liglig was postponed to August 10, 2019, from the last year’s decision to hold it in May 2018.
However, due to unfavorable weather conditions, the marathon has been postponed till world tourism day, September 27, 2019. Earlier first, the second and third marathon was held in the Langtang region.
TAAN has also increased the prizes for the male and female winners of marathon. Last year’s first cash prize which was Rs 50,000 has been increased to Rs 80,000.
Similarly, the second cash prize of Rs 30,000 has been raised to Rs 60,000, the third cash prize from Rs 20,000 to Rs 40,000.
The registration charges for Nepali participants for this marathon is fixed at Rs 2500 and for international players 75 dollars for this marathon.
