Kathmandu: Newly appointed Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattrai expressed his commitment to fulfilling the goal of Nepal Visit Year 2020.

Assuming his new office on Wednesday evening, Minister Bhattrai said, “The visit year 2020 is knocking at the door. We should discuss it extensively and commit to fulfilling the targeted goals. If there are lapses, let’s improve them and move forward with all strength.”

The Ministry was leaderless after the death of previous Minister Rabindra Adhikari in a helicopter crash last February. It was during the tenure of Adhikari that the visit year 2020 was declared and aimed at bringing at least 2 million tourists in the country.

The new Minister Bhattrai also vowed that the Pokhara and Gautam Buddha International airports will be completed either before the slated time or within the stipulated time which comes under the periphery of his Ministry.

Bhattrai also said that the construction works related to Nijgad International airport will also be expedited within his tenure.

“We will ensure that the people take the name of Nepal Airlines with pride and head held high because we are committed to working for it,” added Minister Bhattrai.
