Annapurna base camp (ABC) hotels are to resume their logistic services from August 18, 2019, after the damaged hotels get reconstructed. The reconstruction of hotels damaged due to natural disasters in the last February was expedited to the point of completion.
According to JB Gurung, the proprietor of Annapurna Century lodge said, “90% of reconstructions works are likely to be completed very soon. So, the hospitality services will be resumed with effect from August 2019.”
There are four hotels at the base camp. In the last disaster of February 23, 2019, all the staff had returned home after the unfavorable condition was created. When an aerial view of the hotel with the support of a helicopter was taken, it was found that the physical infrastructure was damaged.
“It’s a natural disaster. However, there is no sign of landslides coming from above,” said Gurung while talking to highlights tourism. “The loss of humans was prevented at least, “said Gurung.
Gurung also added that now it was possible to accommodate at least 200 visiting guests in the hotels at the base camp. The Annapurna base camp trekking is usually considered to be easy and comfortable.
Tourism entrepreneurs have been complaining about difficulties due to hotels not resuming services at the base camp. The tourists and guests were being shifted to other alternative lodges in the absence of logistic services at the base camp.
Another tourism entrepreneur Jay Gurung said, “Many tourists who insisted on reaching the base camp were airlifted and given the services.”
