Do not distort the name of Sagarmatha & Gaida, says PM Oli
Kathmandu: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli vehemently called upon 400 delegates of 43 countries to call ‘Sagarmatha’ for Mt. Everest and ‘Gaida’ for rhino and not to distort these names.
PM Oli was addressing an international conference of Director Generals of Asia-Pacific Civil Aviation held in Kathmandu Monday during which he urged the international community to visit Nepal during the visit year 2020.
PM Oli further said that since the second international airport –Gautam Buddha International Airport-was going to be launched very soon and the air safety was improving in Nepal, the international community should consider Nepal a safer destination.
According to the Civil Aviation Department, the five-day conference was being held to collect suggestions related to air safety in the Asia-Pacific region. Similar conferences of Director Generals of Asia-Pacific Civil Aviation were held in Nepal in 1978 and 1998 as well.
