Tourist arrival in Nepal increases by 9% in the last eight months
Kathmandu: The tourism sector of Nepal enjoyed sustained growth in international tourist arrivals in the first eight months of 2019 thereby showing a cumulative increase of 9% over the same period in 2018.
According to a Nepal Tourism Board press statement released Thursday, the tourist arrival for the first eight months (January-August) 2019 has reached 742,600.
The press release further noted that 619,765 international tourists arrived by air while 122,835 arrived via land.
The Indian tourist arrivals in 2019 increased by 6.1% as compared to the same figure in the same period in 2018.
Similarly, the SAAR tourist arrival showed a growth of 6.2% this year while the Chinese tourist arrival increased by 9.8%.
Tourists from Thailand and Japan have also increased by 38.9% and 12.8% said the statement. Likewise, the European arrival has also surged up in recent months.
