Kathmandu: A Polish female mountaineer breathed her last while descending Mt Manaslu (8,163m) at Camp III Saturday, according to Mingma Sherpa, Chairperson of Seven Summit Treks, who quoted base camp officials as saying.
The Polish woman –Rata Donata Bladyko (50) died of hypothermia after she complained of the disease on Saturday morning and her colleagues brought her down to Camp III from Camp IV, reported The Himalayan Times English daily Sunday.
Hypothermia occurs when the body starts losing heat faster than it produces heat, causing a low body temperature. This is the first death of a climber on Manaslu in this autumn season.
Sherpa said that all efforts are being made to airlift the dead body of the climber from Camp III. However, due to bad weather conditions, helicopters are not able to fly.
Sherpa also added that the relatives of the deceased polish climber have been informed of her death.
At least 12 Polish climbers along with four women climbers had officially obtained permission to climb Mt Manaslu recently said Sherpa.
