Australian girl becomes the youngest female to scale Mt. Cho Oyu

Kathmandu: An Australian teenage girl Gabrielle Jane Kanizay (16) summited the sixth highest mountain Cho Oyu (8,188m) this autumn season becoming the world’s first youngest female to scale the mountain.

According to Ang Jangbu Sherpa, Managing Director and organizer of the expedition at Beyul Adventure the 16-year-old Gabrielle climbed the mountain along with her mother Jane Frances Kanizay, while Phunuru Sherpa climbed the mountain Cho Oyu for the 19th times in this season.

A 16-year-old American climber Matt Moniz had climbed the same mountain to become the world’s youngest male to summit the mountain in 2014.
