Hiking through Champa Devi around Kathmandu

There are several beautiful places around Kathmandu for short hiking if you have less time to stay in Nepal. For example, hiking through Champa Devi hill could be very interesting and charming for you.

Hiking through this romantic place will give you refreshing moments of stay in Nepal. The capital city of Kathmandu is surrounded by forest, hills, and villages.

Champa Devi is located in the southeastern direction of Kathmandu valley which separates from Makawanpur district.

Elevated at 2278 meters above sea level, Champa Devi hill is the third highest hill in Kathmandu valley. The day hiking through this hill is very popular for individuals and groups.

While hiking through this hiking trail, you can enjoy the scenic beauty of nearby mountain peaks like those of Annapurna, Langtang, Ganesh Himal and Gaurishanker mountains, green forest, villages, people, and cultures of the local people.

Champa Devi hike also offers you the majestic view of the ancient and historical places such as Bagmati River, Khokana and Pharping village. The highest hill of the valley –Chandragiri can also be seen from here.

One of the popular routes that take you to the Champa Devi summit is via Dollu valley which passes through pine trees.

The route starts from the Hattiban area which takes around 3-4 hours to reach the destination of Champa Devi hill.

There is also another route that starts from the Dakshinkali temple and passes through the dirt tracks. This route is a bit steeper and takes around 4-6 hours to complete.

You can take a bus from Kathmandu Bus Park for Dakshinkali. Once the bus takes you to Hattiban or Pharping you can alight there and start your interesting hike through Champa Devi hill.
