NTA to offer free WiFi services to the tourists in 2020
Kathmandu: As the national campaign-Visit Nepal 2020- knocks at the door, the only government-owned Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has called upon the interested applicants to implement a free WiFi network in the tourist hub areas.
According to the NTA, tender solicited publicly, selective operators through a competitive bidding process will be selected to manage the free WiFi network with free internet access.
The project will help the tourists to connect to the internet without a hustle. NTA project is being implemented in the backdrop of not reliable internet connectivity in tourist destinations.
The selected areas such as tourist destinations, religious places, historical and cultural areas in Nepal will have the opportunity to connect to the free WiFi internet services to target the visit year 2020.
NTA mentions three packages for free WiFi services. Package A is set for trekking routes of Annapurna Circuit and Muktinath temple. Package B for WiFi connectivity along the route to Mt Everest base camp and Package C meant for religious areas such as Janaki temple, Barah Chetra, Pathivara, Halesi Mahadev, Gurudwara, Jame Mosque and Panch Kashmiri Takiya.
