Tourism Minister Bhattarai inaugurates ‘cycle ride through Sindhuligadi’
Kathmandu: Tourism Minister Yogesh Bhattarai formally inaugurated the cycle ride journey through Sindhuligadi from Pashupatinath temple premises Friday amidst a mammoth gathering of people and participants, reported RSS Friday.
Minister Bhattarai handed over the national flag to world cyclist Puskar Shah and the cycle ride flag to cycle ride leader Davendra Basnet and female cycle ride leader Sajal Pradhan on the occasion.
According to the coordinator of Ride through Sindhuligadi Deepika Gyawali, as many as 171 cycle riders have participated which includes 153 males and 18 females. The total participants including supporters have reached up to 210.
The British Council sponsored 5 females and United Nations-sponsored 10 female participants to bear the entire cost of the participation, said Leelanath Ghimire, the chairman of Samridha Sindhuli campaign.
Samridha Sindhuli campaign has been hosting this campaign every year for four years to promote the Sindhuligadi. Even the foreigners have participated in the cycle ride campaign which is our pride added Ghimire. The campaign is aimed at promoting the historical site of Sindhuligadi to the outside world.
