Suaraha: Nepal’s most popular tourist spot for Jungle Safari

Sauraha is a beautiful village located in Nepal’s Chitwan National Park, where tourists usually throng to revel in a jungle safari, elephant ride, and elephant race during their short holidays.

This popular tourist destination has a rare Tharu village made up of muds and bamboos where you can stay and watch various indigenous Tharu cultural dances to spend your night time after dinner is served to you.

Comfortable hotels of around 3-4 star level are found here where you can book for your short sojourn during your jungle safari.

In the vicinity of the Tharu village, you can find the most luxurious hotels, restaurants, cafes, internet and gift shops of the western pattern too which you can book for your comforts and luxury.

Jungle Safari

You can comfortably enjoy the most coveted jungle safari here by vehicle, elephant or on foot. During your jungle safari you will see Bengal tiger, leopards, crocodiles, birds, monkeys, deer, various species of butterflies and Bish hajar taal, (20,000 lakes)The Sauraha is around 160 km far away from Kathmandu by road.

A river separates Sauraha from National Chitwan Park. Besides observing flora and fauna here, you will have a good opportunity to swim in the river, watch elephants and rhinos including going on a canoe trip in the river.

The only thing that you may not like is the mosquitoes here for which you may be given mosquito nets. But life here is very serene.

When to visit?

The months of November -April in the dry season would be most suitable for the visit to Sauraha. As for itineraries, you may visit one of the private tours and travel agencies in Nepal that can furnish you with what you need for your luxurious travel in Nepal.
