Karnali state to upgrade 42 trekking trails to promote VNY 2020

Kathmandu: Karnali province is engaged in preparing to promote at least 42 trekking routes in the state to encourage more number of tourists to arrive in the province in the upcoming Visit Nepal Year 2020 (VNY2020).

According to Karnali State Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment, the Karnali state has sanctioned a budget of Rs 114 million for the construction of trekking trails in the backdrop of the upcoming VNY2020.

The trekking trails that are to be constructed or upgraded include nine trails in Humla, seven in Dolpa and Mugu respectively and six in Jumla. Similarly, one each trail will be constructed in Kalikot, Jajarkot, Dailkeh, Surkhet and Salyan districts.

A feasibility study for trekking trails from Sisne in East Rukum through Musikot, Rinabagar, Jaljala, Jajarkot and Chandannath to Rara lake is also underway according to Prakash Basnet who is Assistant Forest officer at the Ministry of Karnali state.
