Hiking in Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park
Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park is the ninth national park in Nepal. Hiking through this park will give you absolute peace of mind and meditative mood suffused with a spiritual bent of mind which could be ascribed to be a difficult but highly upheld and sublime phenomenon in one’s life.
The park was established in 2002. This park has two islands of the forest named Shivapuri and Nagarjun. Shivapuri is very close to Kathmandu. Its altitude is around 2732 meters above sea level.

The park covers an area of 159 square km and has a subtropical temperate climate. Hiking through this park will offer you the chance to watch 318 species of birds including 117 migratory birds such as white-backed vulture, black vulture, beard vulture, dark kite, hen harrier, goshawk, sparrow hawk, sikhara, common buzzard, Asian black eagle, maggies, etc, 129 species of mushrooms, 2122 species of floras.
You will also have the chance to watch glimpses of wild animals such as Indian leopard, wildcat, Himalayan black bear, Himalayan goral, barking deer, wild boar, black cat, and leopard cat.
The forest is made up of oak and chirr pine trees. Rhododendrons flowers are found here that make your trip to be a resplendent one. The park also has 102 species of moths and butterflies. Once you are on the top of the Shivapuri peak, you may enjoy the mirthful sights of Kathmandu valley and Langtang.
