Chief Minister Gurung at Khasur Community Homestay

Kathmandu: Chief Minister of Gandaki state has inaugurated Khasur Community Homestay situated at Besisahar Municipality-10 in Lamjung district.

According to Khasur Community Homestay chair Nanda Ghale, the homestay was not yet formally inaugurated although it was in operation for the last 15 years in the district.

Khasur is a Gurung population dominant region which can be reached within half an hour road march or via vehicles from Lamjung’s district headquarters – Besisahar. At least 50 persons can be accommodated in the homestay here.

The cluster of Khasur village is most suitable for experiencing local organic foods and Gurung cultures. Mr. Ghale also says that this place is suitable for holding various training and symposiums and last year’s Gandaki government’s support for the construction of a conference hall here has made it more suitable.

Most of the homestays here are well equipped with modern internet access and comfortable facilities of food and accommodation here.

“Agriculture and tourism are the backbones of local development and prosperity and we will support any efforts made in this direction, “said Chief Minister Gurung while speaking during the inaugural program.Chief Minister also said that last year a budget grant of 3 million rupees was given to the homestays and Rs 2.5 million has been allocated for the development of homestays this year.Gurung also added that state budget up to 5 million can be allocated in the future if more constructive plans come up for homestays in the state.
