Nepal has no plans to evacuate Nepalese citizens from Wuhan city

Kathmandu: At a time when the Nepalese living in the Chinese city of Wuhan, the epicenter of the lethal Coronavirus, are panic-stricken and demanding that they be airlifted for their safety, Nepal government on Friday officially announced that it has no such immediate plans to evacuate those Nepalese due to lack of quarantine facilities in Nepal.

After the outbreak of deadly Coronavirus in the Chinese city of Wuhan at least 200 people have lost their lives. Following this, the World Health Organization (WHO) has also declared a global health emergency.

According to the Nepali embassy in Beijing although the exact number of Nepalese living in Wuhan is unknown, yet an estimated 190 Nepalese living in Wuhan city and five other neighboring cities have come in contact with the Nepali embassy in Beijing.

Sushil Lamsal, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Nepali Embassy in Beijing said, ” Majority of Nepalese living in Wuhan have demanded that they are airlifted to Nepal immediately,”
