Skiing Championship to kick off in Muktinath, Mustang

Pokhara: Third National skiing championship 2020 is all set to kick off from Saturday (Tomorrow) in Muktinath, Mustang to lure the tourists through adventurous sport and promote Visit Nepal 2020.

According to the chairman of Nepal Skiing Association as well as parliamentarian Jiwan Ram Shrestha, the skiing as adventure sport will promote mountain tourism and the Visit Nepal 2020 campaign as well. He also added that via skiing in the Mustang and Muktinath region, the tourist inflow can be retained in summer too.

General Secretary of the Nepal Skiing Association Bijay Shrestha said that the competition will include snowboarding skiing, alpine skiing, and Cross country skiing as well. He added that Nepal’s skiing will contribute to international skiing competition in the future.

The Rural municipalities of Muktinath and Mustang have all come together to make this skiing championship possible through closer coordination and cooperation.

Skiing, which is one of the most popular games in Europe was introduced in Nepal for the first time in 2016 in Langtang of Rasuwa by holding the first skiing championship in which at least 12 players had participated.
Then in 2019, the second national skiing championship was held in Muktinath in which 15 women and 16 males had participated (RSS).
