2nd Ice Climbing festival kicks off in Manang

Kathmandu: 2nd Ice climbing festival has kicked off at Humde in Manang from February 1-10, 2020.  Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) in coordination with the Nepal climbing team is organizing the annual ice climbing festival to promote winter sports and Visit Nepal 2020.

At least 40 participants including two foreigners are taking part in the ice climbing competition. The main objective of this festival is to expose that mountaineering is the primary basis of the tourism sector in Nepal, said NMA General Secretary Kul Bahadur Gurung.

Humde is elevated at 3200m above sea level in Manang and the ice climbing festival is estimated to cost around 2.6 million rupees.

General Secretary of Nepal Climbing Team Bishnu Tamang said that the 2nd Ice climbing festival was being supported by the Nepal government, Nepal Visit Year 2020 secretariat, Nepal Tourism Board and local government.
