Kathmandu: Four veteran Sherpa climbers are about to venture for the extreme attempt of Mt. Everest in just five days (the shortest time) to create a Guinness World Record in this winter season.
In a press meet held in Kathmandu on Monday, Sherpa climbers disclosed about their “Breathless winter Everest Speed Expedition” and said that this attempt will not only be significant for the climbers in Nepal but will also be the world record for the climbers to attempt the Everest in the shortest time.
Similar attempts were made during the winter season in 1980 and 1993 by foreign climbers, by taking a longer period of two months, whereas this time the Sherpa climbers are attempting this Mt Everest in just five days.
The Everest expedition will be led by the veteran climber and tourism entrepreneur Tashi Lakpa Sherpa and other climbing team members include Mingtemba Sherpa, Pasang Norbu Sherpa, and Halungdorchi Sherpa. All four climbers come from Nepal’s Sankhuwasabha Rural Municipality.

The expedition team has plans to reach atop Mt Everest on February 29 and the team has already headed towards Everest Base Camp today.
Speaking during the same program Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) chairman Khum Bahadur Subedi and Santabir Lama, chairman of Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) wished for the climbers’ successful expedition.
