Nepal restricts issuance of visa on arrival for 5 countries

Kathmandu: Nepal government has officially decided to halt the issuance of on arrival visa for nationals of five countries in keeping with the increasing fear of COVID-19 for the time being.

A cabinet meeting held on Monday said the nationals of China, Iran, Italy, Japan, and South Korea will not be issued a visa on arrival owing to global fear of COVID-19 from March 7 to March 31, 2020.

The nationals of these five countries which are Coronavirus hit countries in case of urgency can apply for a visa to visit Nepal at the Nepali embassies located in their respective countries after clearing all the procedures of medical checks up for coronavirus disease.

The nationals of 13 countries along with Iraq are not allowed access to visas on arrival in Nepal at the moment whereas other countries are availing the benefit of visa on arrival.

The government on Sunday had directed the Home Ministry to strickly restrict on the issuance of visa on arrival to those countries which are infected with Coronavirus.
