AOAN to ground aircraft owing of decline of passengers

Kathmandu: Airlines Operators Association of Nepal (AOAN) is reported to be preparing to ground aircrafts after the number of passengers declined due to the increasing threat of Coronavirus.

“The number of air passengers has declined by 40 percent in the last two months,” AOAN Spokesperson Yog Raj Kandel of AOAN said.

Kandel further said that since domestic airlines mainly rely upon domestic and foreign passengers for revenue, the sudden decline in their numbers has caused domestic airline operators to decide to halt the operation of aircrafts.

The total estimated loss faced by domestic aviation caused by the threat of Coronavirus is likely to be around Rs four billion in the current fiscal year.
