Daring to climb Kumbhakarna

If you are an avid mountain climber, you would not miss climbing Kumbhakarna mountain as it keeps luring with its tantalizing appearance.

Kumbhakarna mountain is nearly 11 kilometers far away from the west apex of Kanchenjunga mountain. It was previously known as Jannu and now known as Kumbhakarna which is located at an altitude of 7710 meters.

Kumbhakarna stands alone as one of the highest mountain in the world with its steep summit on its right side along with its challenging climbing routes. Kubhakarna Expedition is a very tough peak, with an apex pyramid that is hilly on all sides, the first climb and standard route.

It is said that mount Kumbhakarna got its title from the giant Kumbukarna who was the younger brother of rawan who fought with the lord ram in the epic mythology of rawan. Climbing this mountain needs some climbing skills and physical strength and acclimatization.

The Kumbhakarna expedition called Phoktanglungma, literally Phoktang means shoulder and lungma means mountain, in the Limbu language, and is considered to be sacred in the Kirant religion.

Kumbhakarna is the highest peak of the Kumbhakarna Section of the Kanchenjunga Himal which straddles the border between Nepal and India and lies entirely within Nepal. A long ridge connects it with Kanchenjunga to the east.
