Qatar Airways Flight returns with 305 foreigners on board
Kathmandu: A special Qatar Airways flight that landed at Tribhuvan International Airport Friday morning has returned with 305 foreign nationals mostly Germans and French on board according to Civil Aviation sources.
These were the foreign tourists who had been stranded in various parts of the country including the Everest region, Lukla, Manaslu and Pokhara due to lockdown in the country following global Coronavirus pandemic.
The special Qatar Airways flight was sent to Kathmandu by Germany to evacuate its citizens stranded in Nepal while trekking in various parts of the country and the Nepal government had allowed the aircraft to fly to Kathmandu at the request of the German Embassy in Kathmandu.
It may be recalled that earlier on Wednesday, the government’s High-Level Coordination Committee formed to curb COVID-19 had decided to send back the stranded foreigners to their home country.
22 foreign tourists evacuated from Manaslu
Meanwhile, 22 foreign tourists have been evacuated from Manaslu trekking trails that falls in the Gorkha district of Nepal.
The evacuated foreigners include 5 Argentinians and 3 each of Germany, Canada, and South Korea according to Gorkha district administration sources.
