Lockdown intensified, local movements restricted
Kathmandu: The government has decided to intensify the lockdown period by restricting the peoples’ movement from one province to another and from one local body to another local body in a bid to curb the spread of Coronavirus across the country.
The cabinet meeting held on Saturday said the decision was taken to curb the risk of global COVID-19 that has created terror and pandemic for the people.
The government’s decision strictly directs all provincial as well as local bodies to comply with the directives of the lockdown to prevent the spread of the deadly virus.
The cabinet also decided to initiate en mass testing process for the people suspected of the virus infection to evade further adverse consequences.
The decision comes in the wake of a number of positive cases of the virus reported from Kailali, Kanchandpur, and Baglung.
The government’s decision also incorporates giving priority to the significant role of health workers during this critical period by encouraging them to play an active role to prevent the spread of the virus through encouraging allowances, health insurance, security and facilitating them with required medical equipment to work with.
