India extends lockdown until May 3

Kathmandu: In addition to the earlier three-week shutdown, India has extended the nation-wide lockdown to curb Coronavirus until May 3 after India saw deaths of 358 people and over 10,000 people infected with this deadly virus.

During a nationally televised address to the nation, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday announced the additional three week shutdown period until May 3 to prevent the rapid spread of the global epidemic.

PM Modi urged his citizens to bear the brunt of the difficulties caused due to shutdown in the battle against the invisible virus. He also said certain relaxation in the lockdown may be deemed after observing the situation for one more week in the country.
