Over 202,000 succumb to COVID-19 globally
Kathmandu: Over 202,000 people have succumbed to COVID-19 and around 2.8 million have been infected globally as of Sunday, though over 815,000 people have recuperated from this epidemic so far.
The US reported over 54,000 deaths with nearly one million confirmed cases of the deadly contagion according to John Hopkins University.
Europe
Italy reported 26,384 deaths followed by Spain’s death toll estimated at 22,902 while France has recorded 22,614 deaths due to the contagion. UK’s death toll mounted to 20,319.
Switzerland has 1599 deaths and Austria has recorded 536 deaths, while Sweden has 2,192 recorded deaths due to the COVID-19.
Asia
In Asia, China has 4,512 deaths and Japan reported346 deaths, Russia 681 and South Korea 240 due to this pathogen.
Similarly, Malaysia has reported 98 deaths while Philippines recorded 494 deaths and Indonesia recorded deaths of 720 people so far. Thailand has recorded deaths of 51 people while Singapore has reported the death of 12 people.
SAARC Region
In the SAARC region India reported 825 deaths while Pakistan reported death toll of 269 people. Bangladesh reported 140 deaths while Srilanka has witnessed deaths of 7 people.
Nepal has 49 confirmed cases of which 12 persons have already recovered from the epidemic. Maldives has 177 positive cases of which 17 cases recovered. Bhutan reported 5 positive cases of which two persons have recovered.
Africa
In Africa, Algeria reported 419 deaths and South Africa recorded 86 deaths while Egypt recorded 307 deaths due the deadly virus.
Arab countries
Saudi Arabia reported 136 deaths, Qatar-10, UAE-71, and Kuwait has 19 death toll while Bahrain reported 8 deaths due to the COVID-19.
