Buddha Jayanti and International Buddhist Conference deferred

Kathmandu: Buddha Jayanti and International Buddhist Conference slated to be  held in Lumbini-the birth place of lord Buddha- on May 7,2020  in Nepal have been deferred due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Lumbini Development Trust sources said, the events were postponed at the direction of the Ministry of culture, tourism and civil aviation on account of increasing risk of global contagion and the horrific crisis seen at this juncture.

All kind of activities related to the international events have been put off under the influence of global virus pandemic.

However, lamps and lights will be lighted in the premises of the Mayadevi temple on May 6th , 7th and 8th  by maintaining social distance to mark the day of 20564 Buddha Jayanti and pray for the world peace and peace for those who died due to COVID-19 this year.
There will be no gathering of the monks, nuns and locals to prevent the spread of the global virus.
