Over 239,000 people lose their lives due to COVID-19 globally

Kathmandu: Over 239,000 people globally have lost their lives due to COVID-19  and as many as 3,127,126 infected while 939,223 have been cured so far as on Saturday.

Europe

The US recorded over 65,000 deaths, Italy 28,236, UK 27,510, Spain 24,824, France 24,594, Belgium 7,703, Netherland 4,893, Germany 6,736 and Sweden 2,653 deaths due to COVID-19 according to Johns Hopkins University.

Asia

In Asia, China recorded 4,633 deaths, Japan 430, Russia 1,169 and South Korea 248 due to this pathogen. Malaysia reported 103 deaths, Philippines 579, Indonesia  800, and Singapore 16 people.

SAARC Region 

In the SAARC region India reported 1,223 deaths,Pakistan 417, Bangladesh 170 deaths while Srilanka recorded 7 deaths due to this lethal disease. Nepal recorded 59 confirmed cases of deadly contagion while 16 cases have been cured. Maldives recorded 1 death and 491 positive cases of which 17 cases recovered and Bhutan reported 7 positive cases of which 5 persons have recovered.

Africa

In Africa, Algeria reported 453 deaths and South Africa 116 while Egypt recorded 406 deaths due the deadly virus.

Arab countries

UAE reported 111 deaths, Qatar-12, and Kuwait 30, while Bahrain reported 8  and Saudi Arab 169 deaths due to the COVID-19.
