Kathmandu:US death toll surpassed over 67,000 as over 244,000 people globally lost their lives due to COVID-19 and as many as 3,419,184 infected while 939,223 were cured on Sunday.
In Europe, UK’s recorded 28,131 death toll is likely to overtake Italy’s reported death toll estimated to be 28,710. France reported 24,729 deaths and Spain 25,100 due to COVID-19 according to Johns Hopkins University.
In Asia, China recorded 4,512 deaths, Japan 455, Russia 1,222 and South Korea 250, Malaysia reported 103 deaths, Philippines 603, Indonesia 831, and Singapore 17 deaths due to COVID-19.
In the SAARC region India reported 1,323 deaths,Pakistan 437, Bangladesh 175 deaths while Srilanka recorded 7 deaths due to this lethal disease. Nepal recorded 59 confirmed cases of deadly contagion while 16 cases have been cured. Maldives recorded 1 death and 519 positive cases of which 18 cases recovered and Bhutan reported 7 positive cases of which 5 persons have recovered.
In Africa, South Africa reported 123 deaths, while Egypt recorded 415 deaths due the deadly virus.
UAE reported 119 deaths, Qatar-12, and Kuwait 33, while Bahrain reported 8 and Saudi Arab 176 deaths due to the COVID-19.
