Kirant festival: Ubhauli and Chandi Purnima being celebrated
Kathmandu: Kiranties across the country are celebrating their most popular community festival known as Ubhauli and Chandi purnima amidst various cultural programs being hosted at community level, within and without.
This festival is observed by Rai, Limbu, Sunwar and Yakkha. The festival is mostly observed among the Kirant community in the eastern Nepal. However, for the last one decade they have been celebrating this festival in Kathmandu as well.
The festival is also observed by the Kiranti diaspora across the world where Kirantis live and work as migrant workers or non-Nepali residents.
Vice President’s message to the Kirant community
Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun has extended hearty best wishes to the entire Kirant community within the country and abroad on the occasion of Ubhauli and Chandi Poornima festivals today.
He also wished that may the Buddha Jayanti and the Ubhauli festivals give inspiration to all to fight against coronavirus and to move ahead on the path of peace and prosperity.
