Inclusion of mountaineers’ issues in tourism act suggested
Kathmandu: The group of mountaineers have suggested the government to include their issues in the new tourism act which is in the offing.
A delegation team of mountaineers led by its chairperson Maya Sherpa met with Minister for Tourism Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai on Wednesday at his ministry and vehemently suggested him to include their demands and issues in the upcoming tourism act.
The delegation has also submitted a memorandum to the Minister in written.
Nepal government is mulling over bringing in new tourism act after four decades saying that old tourism act of 2035 has become obsolete by now. The government has been consulting with the concerned stakeholders in this regards.
The other demands and issues of the mountaineers include providing identity card to the mountaineers, jobs and allocation of easy loan of Rs 2.5 million.
Also, their demands include insurances up to 3 million rupees and facility of old age stipend on monthly basis after crossing 50 years for the mountaineers and fixing the labor fee according to the altitude mountains.
Minister while speaking to the delegation assured them that their issues will be possibly addressed in the new tourism act.
