108 international flights operated & 11702 passengers returned during lock down
Kathmandu: At least 108 international flights were operated & 11702 domestic and foreign passengers returned from Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) during lock down period.
Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Yogesh Bhattarai while speaking in program in Kathmandu divulged that as many as 108 international flights of which 66 chartered flights and 42 cargo flights were operated from TIA in the last three months during the lock down period.
According to the latest updates, 649 Nepalese have returned home and 25 airlines companies have operated 54 flights while four of Nepali airlines companies have also operated flights. Thirty airlines companies including three Nepali airlines have been operating internatioanl flights from TIA.
Nepal government has suspended both domestic and international flights after lock down was imposed since March 24 to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Minister Bhattarai also said the government has arranged for low cost flights for migrant Nepali workers to return from abroad and the licenses of travel agencies intending to charge costly airfare for the passengers will be cancelled.
