Mt. Everest Base Camp region to have free WIFI

Kathmandu: Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) is all set to initiate  the process of providing free WIFI service at Everest Base Camp region in the next eight months.

The process of providing internet services comes up amid complaints from the mountaineers that the internet service in the region is too expensive and of low quality.

The Everest Link Pvt Ltd has been given the contact to install the free internet service in the Everest base camp region. The free internet service will be made available in Lobuche, Monjo, Namche Bazaar, Phakding, Feriche and Tengboche areas according to NTA for which an estimated amount of Rs 69.9 million has been invested.

The mountaineers usually at Everest base camps need internet services to connect to their families and friends to use WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and Viber.
