NTB announces winners of Photo Contest

Samde Sherpa’s photo of Kathmandu valley with Rolwaling mountain ranges at the backdrop adjudged for first prize.

Kathmandu: Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) on Sunday announced the top five winners of the photo contest- “Nepal From Your Window”.

According to NTB the top five photos were selected from among the 500 approved photos enlisted for the contest.

Samde Sherpa’s Kathmandu Valley’s photo with Rolwaling mountain range in the backdrop was adjudged to be first prize winner, followed by Sushil Paduel, Kamal Kandel, Umesh Stahpit and Prabin Shrestha respectively.

Each of the photographers will be given a cash of Rs 10,000.The winners were judged 50 percent on the basis of judge’s selection and the remaining 50 percent based on online voting.

Senior photo journalist Narendra Shrestha judged the pictures based on their originality, technical excellence and artistic merit.

NTB has been conducting such photo exhibitions for the last four years to promote and inspire the upcoming photo journalists.
