Romancing with Lobuche peak

Romancing with Lobuche peak (east and west) which are elevated at 6,119m and 6,145m respectively) on the way to the highest peak of the world (Mt Everest) is so enchanting trip that a climber of trekker would feel like coming back to this peak again and again in his life time to relish the moment of ecstasy of being spell bound to see the spectacular glimpses around this peak.

A climber can do trekking with the eastern peak of Lobuche, while western Lobuche peak is meant for expedition. So, the choice is yours whether you would prefer to go for a trekking or expedition of this massive peak.

Although, the two peaks of Lobuche stand apart yet a continuous ridge connects them but there is still a sharp gap and a considerable distance between them.

Lobuche peak being a fascinating one, it offers various existing routes. The dark triangle of its rocky east face rises over the moraines of the Khumbu Glacier to a spectacular skyline, forming the south ridge.

The peak of Lobuche East is reached by descending a marked notch and climbing steep snowy slopes to the top. On most occasions, the mountain is climbed on the summit ridge only as far as a subsidiary snow summit, south-east of the true peak and before the notch.

This peak is identified as the false peak. Laurence Nielson and Ang Gyalzen Sherpa made the first ascent to Lobuche East on 25 April 1984 although there are possibilities that others might also have reached the summit before. But no records are available.

Spring and autumn are the best seasons to climb this peak. Your trek begins after you arrive in Lukla airport from Kathmandu in a light.
