Pulchowk people gather to pull Rato Macchindaranath chariot

Kathmandu: Despite imposition of curfew orders inside Kathmandu valley to curb the spreading spree of Coronavirus, a large group of youths in Puchowk have violated curfew orders to come out of their houses to pull the chariot of Rato Macchindranath on Thursday.

More than 1,000 people were seen pulling the Rato Machhindranath Chariot at Pulchowk which is one of the famous festival observed by the Newari community of Kathmandu valley annually.

The police personnel meanwhile have interrupted the pulling of Rato Machhindaranth chariot citing reasons that large gathering of people will lead to spike of Coronavirus in the valley.

There has been scuffle between the police personnel and the crowd of people. Police is reported to have used tear gas to disperse the unruly crow of people.

Meanwhile, the Jyaopu Guthi and people concerned with Rato Machhindaranth festival said they were not aware of how the people gathered to pull the chariot of Machhindaranth.
