Rasuwa: Relief materials have been distributed to the tourism workers of Naukunda Sarsyung in Rasuwa.
The relief materials were distributed in coordination with Trip Himalaya Treks and Expeditions. Those tourism workers were in trouble after becoming jobless due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The financial aid sent by Claudia Schmid of Switzerland was utilized to purchase the relief materials. 5200 kg of rice, 1040 kg of pulses, 208 kg of cooking oil, 208 kg of salt, hand washing soaps, and masks were distributed to 26 households of tourism workers as a relief.
The tourist guides, porters, cooks, and kitchen helpers of the tourism sector were the recipient beneficiaries of relief materials.
Speaking during the relief distribution program, Sanjeev Gurung of the Trip Himalaya said that the initiative has been taken to help the tourism workers as they were facing problems of livelihood for a long time.
“We contacted friends outside. We have purchased and distributed the goods from the assistance sent by them,” he said.
Pasang Temba Tamang, who has been working as a cook for a long time, said that he was unemployed for ten months. “I am happy that the company has provided assistance while I am farming in the village. We now will share this support with other neighbors” he said.
Tourism worker Jit Bahadur Tamang also said that there was a crisis due to a lack of job following Covid-19. “I was taking care of my wife and children by taking loans. This support will last for four months,” Tamang said in an optimistic mood.
