Covid-19 surfaces in Namche: Flights suspended for Everest region

Kathmandu: After one Covid-19 surfaced in Namche Bazaar, all flights to the Everest region have been suspended for the time being according to a press release issued by Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality on Thursday.

The certain areas of the Namche have been sealed after the detection of Coronavirus in one person.

A  team of doctors have been sent to the Namche Bazar on Friday to collect the swab samples said, Ang Dorje Sherpa the Chairperson of Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee.

With the suspension of flights to the Everest region until further notice the trekking in the Everest and Amadablam has been adversely affected when the trekking and mountaineering were slowly gaining momentum in the recent days after Bahrain Prince climbed Mt Lobuche and Mt Manaslu.
