Maha Astami being observed across the country
Kathmandu: Hindu devotees and believers are observing the Maha Ashtami across the country by worshipping Goddess Durga Saturday.
Maha Ashtami is observed on the eight day of the ten day long Bada Dashain festival during which the people worship their weapons, arsenal, vehicles and machinery parts as Goddess Durga is considered to be the source of power.
It is said the worship of Goddess Durga or power of Goddees will bless the devotees with power, progress and prosperity. Animal sacrifices are also offered to the Goddess Durga on this occasion.
All Hindu Nepalis also visit various Hindu temples such as temples of Goddess Mahakali, Mahalaxmi and Mahasarswati to seek blessings though such visits have been adversely affected following spreading spree of Covid -19 these days.
