Feasibility of Dhaulagiri Icefall Trekking

Beni: A feasibility study of Dhaulagiri Icefall Trekking in Myagdi has been conducted.

The Raghuganga rural municipality conducted the on the spot study of the feasibility, challenges and problems of the trekking route that was identified around one decade ago.

According to rural municipality chairman Bhava Bahadur Bhandari, in order to include most of the wards of the municipality and to manage the trekking route, the representatives, technical staff, official staff and local teams had visited the trekking route in the first phase.

Bhandari also added that the municipality has already worked out the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of trekking route from Reisedanda to Dhaulagiri Icefall which is in its final phase and additional infrastructure on the basis of the current DPR will be further added.

The visiting team to oversee the Dhaulagiri trekking route included parliamentarian Tham Maya Thapa, rural municipality chairman Bhandari, Chief administrative officer Amrit Subedi, ward member Buddimaya Pun, leader of Chimkhola Dhruva Kumar Paija, technical and media team.

Parliamentarian Thapa hinted that the efforts will be made to use the Dhaulagiri Icefall trekking route as an alternative trekking route to connect Myagdi and Mustang.

The new trekking route will have additional attractions of fascinating flora, fauna and natural vegetation including wild animals such as snow leopard and variety of birds chirping in the dense jungles all along this trekking route.

This trekking route connects the Lete of Mustang through high hills of Myagdi’s Piple, Bhagwati, Begkhola, Dagram, Chimkhola, Kuinengole, Doba
