10 Nepali climbers summit Mt K2 successfully
Kathmandu: Ten Nepali climbers including famous climbers Nirmal Purja and Mingma David Sherpa have successfully climbed the world’s second highest mountain peak K2 based in Pakistan and created a world record in this winter season.
All previous attempts of K2 by various expedition groups from various countries had failed. However, the Nepali expedition team along with Nirmal and Mingma successfully summited K2 at 4: 58 pm on Saturday.
The ten Nepali climbers include Nirmal Purja, Gelje Sherpa, Mingma David Sherpa, Mingma G . Sona Sherpa, Mingma Tenzi Sherpa,Pem Chhiri Sherpa, Dawa Temba Sherpa, Kili Pemba Sherpa and Dawa Tenjing Sherpa. The height of Mt K2 is 8611meters.
This is a great achievement in the field of mountaineering field according to Managing Director Chhangdava Sherpa of Seven Summit Treks.
Famous climber Purja confirmed that the Nepali team of climbers touched the peak and even sang the national song of Nepal on it.
Purja has maintained a world record of having climbed all 14 peaks above 8000 meters within seven months while Mingma has maintained the world record for having climbed all 14 peaks above 8000 meters at the minimum age.
