Spanish climber breathes his last while climbing K2

Kathmandu: While 10 Nepali climbers created a world record by climbing the second highest peak of the world K2 in Pakistan in this winter season, a Spanish climber Sergi Mingote is reported to have met with a tragic death while climbing the K2 on Saturday.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez also confirmed the media reports about the saddened mishap. PM Sanchez further said, “Sergi Mingote wanted to make history by climbing the K2, but the tragic incident caused him to breath his last.”
The reports also said Spanish alpinist was not included in the team of Nepali expedition that successfully scaled the Mt K2 at around 5 pm on Saturday. Mingote was located at an intermediate camp where he fell and got injured and later on succumbed to his fatal injuries.
As many as 60 climbers from four expedition teams including the Nepali expedition were atop the peak of K2 in this winter season, which is comparatively more than that of the previous year’s expeditions.
