Tribhuvan Airport will be open only for 18 hours daily
Kathmandu: Nepal Civil Aviation Authority has reduced the operating period of Tribhuvan Airport.
According to airport spokesperson Dev Chandra Lal Karna, the operation period of the airport will be only 18 hours daily from March 28.
At present, the airport operates 21 hours a day. However, he informed that the flight duration was being reduced as there was no expected pressure on the landing. After the outbreak of the Coronavirus, domestic flights are now satisfactory.
International flights, however, have not grown as expected. Tourist arrivals have not increased due to various restrictions imposed by the government on tourist arrivals.
Karna said the airport will be closed at 12:30 pm. It will only open at 6:30 in the morning.
Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has set an advance date for the operation of the airport with the objective of managing the slots and shifting the time for operation of night flights.
