Sagarmatha climbers prohibited to take other climbers’ pictures
Kathmandu: Nepal government has prohibited Sagarmatha climbers from taking photographs of other climbers and circulating them on the internet without taking prior consent.
Department of Tourism (DoT) on Wednesday strictly issued a notice that no expedition teams will be permitted to take photos, record videos, or film other than those belonging to their own team members.
The DoT notice read, “Capturing photographs and filming videos of people from other expedition teams and publishing of those materials will not be allowed.”
The government’s stringent orders are placed in the wake of a world record holder Nirmal Purja’s picture “Traffic Jam” on the Sagarmatha that had gone viral on the internet in 2019 which had drawn slander against the Nepal government’s management efficacy.
