Rainascot Tourism Festival begins
Lamjung. The Rainascot Tourism Festival has been started here with the objective of promoting tourism. The three-day festival ‘Save rural culture is our slogan! has been started in Rainas Municipality-9 with the slogan ‘Let’s develop sports’ organized by the Rainascot Community Housing Committee.
Mayor Singh Bahadur Thapa said that the festival would spread awareness in the country and abroad and help in the promotion of tourism. He said that the municipality has been promoting Rainascot as a tourist destination.
Ward Chairman of Ward No. 9, Dev Bahadur Thapa, said that it was necessary to organize such festivals in different villages of the district from time to time as such festivals would help in the promotion of tourism.
Khadka Bahadur Gurung, chairman of the Rainascot Community Homestay Management Committee, the organizer of the festival, said that the festival was organized for the first time to attract tourists to the village. The organizers hope that the organization of the festival will help in attracting tourists as the number of tourists has decreased after the Corona infection.
The festival, which started on Thursday, will feature performances by folk singers Raju Pariyar, Sarita Darnan, Prashant Tamang, Ritu Thapa, and Subash Chhitij. There are 12 stalls at the festival. Hundreds of people have attended the festival from different places.
Similarly, Rainascot Tourism Cup will be held. A volleyball tournament for men and women has been organized by the committee since Friday. The winning team in men’s volleyball will get Rs 100,000, trophy, medal, and certificate, while the runner-up team will get Rs 50,000, medal, and certificate.
Similarly, the third-place team will get Rs 30,000, medal and certificate and the consolation team will get Rs 20,000, medal and certificate, according to the organizers. Likewise, the first team on the women’s side will receive Rs 25,000, medals and certificates and the second team will receive Rs 15,000, medals and certificates, said Gurung. There are 17 homestays in operation in this village.
18 mountains including Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, Manaslu, Boudha, and Ganesh Himal can be seen from the homestay at once. The world’s first yoga pillar is also located at Rainascot. There are historical places including Rainascot fort, Thanimai temple, Kalika, Koteshwar Mahadev. There is a history that Dravya Shah, the youngest son of King Yashobahma Shah of Lamjung, ruled the state and settled in Rainascot during the Baise and Chaubiese rule in Nepal.
